Body Acceptance Exercises

The journey of loving your body can feel long. Like it’s taking forever to lose weight, gain muscle, finally love the way you look naked.

I would love to sugar coat the truth for you. Tell you that you can lose weight, gain muscle and finally love the way you look naked in just a few months. But the truth is, it takes longer than that. Unless you cut calories, workout 5x a week and decide to take the quick fix route which ends up with more weight-gain in the long run.

The energetics of loving your body is the missing piece. And that is what these 3 exercises apply to.

Loving and accepting your body is both an inside and outside job. Working out, eating right for your unique constitution and supporting your body’s physical imbalances are key. AND also changing your internal story and energy to promote self love, vitality and self acceptance.

Give one or all of these a try to support you on your self-loving journey.

*These exercises are adapted from Dr. Emily Nagoski’s book Come As You Are.

  1. Take out a blank piece of paper and write everything that you dislike about your body. Every single thing, not judging your words, being as honest as possible. Take up as much space as you would like and go into as much detail as you would like.

When you're finished, write a friend's name on the top of it that you love.

Then underneath, write what you would tell her in reply about what she said about her body.

Reread your advice. That's meant for you.

    2. Take all of your clothes off and write everything that you like about your body. Everything.

Slowly allow criticism to let go. Let the hurt of judging your body complete its stress cycle by dancing slowly to a song you love or just staring at your body and allowing any emotions to come up and then dissipate.

    3. Try this 15 minuteBody Love Meditation. Find a comfortable quiet place and try to do this one or two times a week or as often as needed. https://www.andreaerodgers.com/meditation/2020/10/5/fem-body-meditation

    4. Find images of body types that are similar to your unique body constitution. This is something that can not change completely but can be supported to be the healthiest version of yourself. Buy magazines, go on Pinterest and seek out the beautiful people who support you loving your body.

Notice how they make you feel. Remove the images and brainwashing body types and people who make you feel shame about your body.

These are so powerful. Sending you lot of love on your journey. xxoo
