Gut + Change

Do you remember what goals you created on New Years? That you said you were going to accomplish this year- no excuses? As much as I would like to say that every day I am living my goal 100%, I know I have lost track just a little. Life gets in the way, family, social outings, work meetings etc. It is for this exact reason that I create dates during the year to reflect and refresh. Because if I didn't, it would just be a long map with my adult ADD kicking in and straying away from what I really desire. 

It feels great to have markers to reevaluate your life (obviously January 1st is a big one for most people). I can not think of a more crucial thing to me than taking a look at my life right this moment and really reflecting upon who I am and what I am doing with it. And I set that date for August 3rd. Totally random, but that's the beauty of it. 

Where am I right now?

If any of you are looking back on this year so far with disappointment thinking there were so many things you wish you kept working towards or could change, take that thought and really absorb it.

What is it that you lost track of? We are all humans and live in a fast paced world which makes it very difficult to keep commitments to thing that are not work related. Trust me, I know. But even typing that out makes me really think about how unbalanced our lives can be. Accomplishing things for YOU is what makes life worthwhile. And if that balance is not there, if you are not creating and reaching now, then will you ever? Will life ever getting any slower or easier?

It's not too late to start.

Life is beautiful and every breath you take, every second of every should be used to live fully and feel alive. What that means is that if you don't like what you're doing, what you are not reaching, who you are with or what you life looks like, you need to change it. The hardest, scariest thing in the world is change. So many of us are resistant to it. But if your life isn't what you want it to be, why wouldn't you want change?

Taking the leap to make one goal a reality seems like an impossible feat. But it's time to take the first step. And it will build the momentum to lead you through the journey.

Whether your goal or change is related to health or just life in general, look at everything you are going through with curiosity. If you are stressed about work, upset about your weight or sad about something chronically, take those feelings and really feel them.

Find where the root of your resistance. Examine it. Where do you feel it? In your stomach, in your head? Is it hot or cooling? Write them down and make the commitment to bettering one area of your life.

Self reflect and take some time to sit, breathe and be still. What do you want to accomplish? The answers are within you.

Follow your gut. I did, and it changed my life.
