What to do when you start to lose your way

Sometimes it's easy to lose our way. The map that was pointing us in one direction doesn’t seem to make sense anymore. Maybe the map doesn’t even exist because we have been caught up so deeply in the day to day that we've lost sight of why we are doing what we are doing.

Maybe our careers are exploding. Maybe we are making the money we wanted. Maybe we are living the lifestyle we dreamed of when we were little. But where are you? Where is your soul? Is it alive or is it buried underneath it all?

When you lose your way, you will know it.

It will hit you like a ton of breaks. Maybe it will come in the form of a “mid life crisis”. Or maybe in the form a breakdown. It can be through tears. It can be through rage. Aggression. Isolation.

Use these signs.  Take a break from the mini life that you are living. Time to hit refresh. Maybe you'll come back to that other life and appreciate it more. But the break is needed none the less to find that appreciation again.

It may not be something big. It may be a weekend away. It may be an unplanned sick day that you devote all to yourself. It may be packing up your things and traveling the world.

Maybe you're not 100% sure what you need to do. But if you take a second to evaluate your life at the moment, when you start to lose your way, you may find out that it’s actually leading you to the next step. To the next chapter.

So here’s what you do:

Stop.

Close your eyes.

Turn inward. To you.

Follow what it says. That quiet voice.
